If the dilemma about whether a Christian Online Dating Service is your cup of tea, has been playing on your mind, then more than likely you also have one or two questions which need answering too. A simple Google search for Christian Dating or similar keyword will uncover a large number of websites which fall into that required category, or do they?
The problem, if that’s what you want to call it, is that there are a few dating services around which purport to be Christian inspired or led but if you search underneath the belly of the site, so to speak, you’ll discover some things aren’t quite what they seem to be.
This is not a dossier on specifically what sites to avoid and it’s not my wish to be flooded with complaints from disgruntled dating site owners for bad mouthing their methods. As a Christian person, it should be in your best interests to know what you expect and want from a Christian Online Dating site and the tools it provides you with to find your ideal partner.
As I said at the top though, why use a Christian service? Well the genuine ones out there on the Internet will support you in your quest to find a partner for life by thoroughly screening everyone who applies for membership and they will also be very clear about where they stand spiritually.
They will be Christian owned or operated as I alluded to earlier and either have a statement of faith or a specific page which emphasizes and re-affirms their own beliefs in an obvious way.
Of course, there is the pre-requisite of being a Christian and having the Lord as number one in your life but we all know that Christians come from very different backgrounds and equally different denominations.
The top Christian Online dating websites will have search parameters which take care of any denominational boundaries.
I’m not suggesting that is a problem but if you are for instance, a Catholic, then you might not want to date someone who is a Pentecostal Protestant, even though you both believe in Jesus Christ.
On the other hand, you might be very liberated and not mind dating someone from a different church, either way, the site will allow you the freedom of choice.
There is the blatantly obvious difference between Christian dating websites and secular ones, but both types have sophisticated technology whereby you can easily acquire in depth information about your date, far more accurately and purposefully than if you asked your local pastor or grilled a close friend with 20 questions.
Most respectable dating sites have the same essential features such as asking you for some personal information, without being too intrusive. They might try and ascertain; what your likes and dislikes are; what you do to relax; your hobbies, all designed to gather tidbits on what kind of person you are and what makes you tick.
Christian Dating sites have similar screening techniques in addition to the techniques they employ to find out the important spiritual and religious stuff. It is not an exact science, nothing is. The site you choose, just like any other, relies quite heavily on the integrity and honesty of the individual application.
If someone will go as far as lying about their faith just to try and get a date then that’s really unfortunate, but ultimately it is them who loses out and not you.
It’s comforting to know that such instances are extremely rare and that all Christian Online Dating sites that are operated by Christians, deliver the goods. Assuming you have prayed about your desire to find your lifelong partner, you can be sure that somewhere on their member list, is the person God will bless you with.
